01 April 1998
Characters: Clarrie, Eddie, George, Kathy, Lynda, Marjorie, Sid
- Kathy’s off to school and is not looking forward to either leaving Jamie at home (Kate is due to look after him) not the evening (it’s the Bull’s Eye competition and there’ll be lots of food to prepare).
- Lynda spots a bright green basking lizard (Marjorie had seen one too) and is convinced that she’s got evidence of global significance (global warming and climate change as well as power to the Sawyers Farm cause). Polaroids are taken and the media is informed – Lynda’s in her element.
- The Bull is heaving and Sid is pleased, although Kathy’s had a stressful day with it being April the first and the kids playing up to that. Eddie’s heard about Lynda’s discovery and asks Sid if he might ask Lynda the first question in the quiz. Sid agrees and when the time comes Eddie brings out a green plastic children’s toy for Lynda to identify as that famous reptil, Aprilus Foolus. She storms out decrying the cruel hoax as the pub laughs at The Ambridge Lizard!
