Characters: Brian, Clarrie, David, Debbie, Jennifer, Joe, Ruth, Susan
- The visit by the police to Kate’s place last night was connected with the robbery, nothing to do with another drugs bust as Brian had feared. He’s still not happy about the impression it gives his estate partners.
- Feeling in need of exercise (and to prove she doesn’t have to rely on Jill all the time) Ruth walks all the way to the village shop and back with Josh. David suggests this wasn’t the smartest of moves but Ruth’s more interested in the fact that milk yields are down.
- Joe and Clarrie discuss the provenance of Eddie’s venison, and the hunt: Joe’s now in favour as the hunt always make good any damage they cause, and there’s a few repairs needed that he could claim as hunt damage…
- Susan has been reassured by Brian about her job security. He promises her new job description will be faxed to him today and he’ll let her see it. She’s excited at the prospect of dealing with the business units.
- Brian is having a party to celebrate the official takeover of the estate. He’s not happy that Jennifer has invited Susan and Neil. Joe learns of this and gets himself invited too – after all, Debbie says Brian won’t mind as he likes a drink with Joe.
- Susan arrives at the party (without Neil, as they “couldn’t find a baby sitter at short notice”) in time to receive the faxed job description from Brian. The description is titled “Domestic Manager”, and far from selling the business units, her job will be to clean them! Throwing the fax in the bin, Susan goes home.
