Characters: Betty, Jack, Pat, Richard, Shula, Tony, Usha
- Betty’s getting the shop back to normal, with a lack of incense Kate’s influence is lessening and citing pregnancy problems her presence there is growing more infrequent too. It’s Betty’s second Sunday on the trot and she would like Jack, as Kate’s employer to ask her when she’ll be leaving for good, but he’s loath to dabble in feminine matters. Pat offers to have a word.
- Helen is not coming directly home for the summer, she’s off on holiday for a few weeks first and Pat’s maternal instinct takes a further hit when a letter for John arrives from the Royal Show. He’d booked a stall to advertise direct selling of the pork and it’s just another thing to keep his memory all too painfully alive for his parents.
- Usha’s glad with the case’s outcome and she is gloating a little as she and Richard head to the pool for some time together. There they meet Shula and Richard apologises profusely for his stupidity and unprofessionalism. They both admit that it was a mistake and respect remains intact.
