Characters: Brian, Debbie, George, Jack, Janet, Lizzie, Lynda, Nigel
- George and Jack have words over the pheasants, George blames Jack for mistreating them and Jack basically tells George that his experience is not what’s needed any more. George tells Jack that he will never make a country man.
- Lizzie’s taking her time getting back into the Lower Loxley life, she obviously had a great time in Rome. Nigel tries tell her of his doubts, but he doesn’t manage to say anything. The Isabella crew plan to return for a day’s extra shooting.
- Janet’s playing host to the Archdeacon and all the diocesean clergy and wardens.
- Lynda’s square is still knocking around, it’s framed but unhung, a fact which Lynda has noticed and she’s not too happy – what will people remember her by? Later, the archdeacon mentions that the quilt needed permission to hang in the church and Janet doesn’t think that the square should go up.
- Brian talks Debbie about the estate, she’s surprised at the imminent loss of Brookfield. Debbie’s not keen on getting involved in retaliation but Brian says that he would want Debbie to manage it and it would be unwise to refuse.
- Jean-Paul’s in a mood over Lynda’s squeezing in of a few extras for dinner, but when Jack wants to squeeze Brian and Jennifer in for lunch it’s alright. He’s a little short with Lynda and, with George on his mind, is generally unhappy at staff who question him.
