Characters: Chris, Joe, John, Nigel, Pat, Tommy, William
- William’s still training his calf, Ginger Spice, and Joe, a knowledgeable farmer in spite of everything else, is giving him tips and advice.
- Borchester Building Society are holding a management course at Lower Loxley and while Nigel isn’t so keen on them attending performances of the play, Joe feels that they shouldn’t be disappointed and offers his services as a booking agent – Nigel wasn’t too pleased.
- Chris finally collars John, he admits he signed the booking form for the village hall for Tommy, but denies responsibility. Chris threatens a visit to his mother …
- John isn’t pleased with “pond life” (Tommy) and, while he agrees not to tell Pat, he tells Tommy that that won’t matter because Chris will be doing that imminently anyway.
- Pat notices that Tommy is being helpful and while she are John are inspecting Jason’s work on the extension, Chris arrives and starts laying into Pat about her maternal responsibilities. Obviously Pat gets defensive as she’s no idea what Chris is talking about. The picture becomes clearer and Chris leaves with the threat of a bill for £200 in the air. Pat has no intention of paying it and will leave that pleasure to one of the boys, as well as fuming that Tommy hadn’t admitted his involvement earlier.
