Characters: Ken Barraclough, Lynda, Nelson, Richard, Sean, Susan, Usha
- Ken Barraclough is staying at Grey Gables and is chatting with Lynda, who, for all her protestations to Richard about his competence, seems perfectly charming with him. He mentions to her the matter of the missing traffic calming signs.
- Usha compliments Nelson (who is also pleased) with the transformation to the wine-bar, Sean is congratulated on a job very well done.
- Sean’s done another good job on the Cricket Club dinner, which looks set to be a success.
- Lynda is furious at the absence of the signs and vows to get them replaced, although the Parish Council is a bit short at the moment – so fundraising is the order of the day!
- Barraclough visits the surgery and intimates that he was behind the newspaper article, which he’s sure Richard’s patients would all want to read, and that there will be more. He starts making threats of legal action and vows to uncover his incompetence. Nelson is there and helps to remove him.
- The dinner was going well until Barraclough crashes in, insulting Richard and mentioning that the ladies in his company (Usha, Susan and Lynda) were a little young and fit for him. After a barrage of insults and taunts, Sean pulls Barraclough away before Richard did anything violent that he would regret later.
