Ed and Emma move to Ambridge View. Matt springs a surprise that should be pleasant.
Radio Times: Big changes take place at Ambridge View, and Matt makes an announcement.
Characters: Ed, Emma, Lilian, Matt, Neil, Paul, Susan- A last clandestine phone call between Lilian and Paul, before he goes to Dubai, allows them to relive their day together. They are rudely interrupted by Matt who announces a surprise of his own, to be revealed soon.
- At Ambridge View they are preparing for an influx of residents. Susan has pulled out the stops to get George’s room ready. She admits to bad memories of the caravan; they were only there because Ed couldn’t provide anything better and now … Neil insists that things are very different now. He will talk to Ruth on Monday about mentoring Ed on accounting.
- Meanwhile at Rickyard everything is packed. There is some soul-searching there too. Emma really doesn’t blame Ed: times are tough. Ed realises that he could have done more; Neil has shown him that much. He is determined that they will have their own place again soon.
- George’s new room is a hit, especially his new football duvet cover. Emma tells Susan and Ed tells Neil that they will pull their weight and contribute to the bills. As Neil explains, that is daft; the whole point is to help them through a bad patch.
- Matt reveals his surprise to a rather unenthusiastic Lilian. Pack your bags, Lilian and grab your passport: were going to – cue for song – New York, New York.
