Lilian finds out Brenda is on her travels and Matt is in Russia. Kenton’s behaviour is puzzling David.
Radio Times: Lilian hears an unpalatable truth, and Kenton has things on his mind.
Characters: Brenda, David, Kenton, Lilian, Ruth- Lilian still seems to be under the illusion that Brenda is coming back to work and leaves increasingly fractious messages on her voice mail.
- Ruth and David are impressed at the state of the farm when they get back. Pip obviously enjoyed her time in charge and now she’s off on a relief milking job. Still Ruth is back to earth with having to scrub Rickyard for another viewing. Then there was much wittering about the fete, the highland games and yet more swishing to little effect. Kenton turns up to borrow some fence posts for the caber tossing and even ends up offering to weigh some lambs. Kenton gets all soppy about dealing with stock and David just laughs. But Kenton insists he always felt Brookfield was safe to come home to: the farm and the family. That was unbreakable. David worries that he is getting restless again but Kenton says he’s just thinking about stuff. He is definitely unsettled. David hopes he isn’t off chasing another dream.
- Brenda finally answers the phone to Lilian in Copenhagen. She says she is on holiday for a month and lets slip that she has spoken to Matt in Russia. Lilian is astonished and asks if he is okay and where he is. Brenda tells her to stop calling and hangs up.
