More roses meet a sticky end. Ray’s plans to liven up Grey Gables continue unabated.

Radio Times: Ian’s not keen, and Shula averts a crisis.

• Oh no! Lynda gets a nasty shock: Constanza has escaped from her paddock and munched Lynda’s Peace roses. So another entry for the rose category in the F & P Show bites the dust. There should be good odds available on Ruth’s entry now.
• Rest assured Oliver, Grey Gables in in good hands; enjoy your holiday. Sadly there is a growing gulf between Ray’s view of the hotel and that of the regular staff. It’s about to get wider when he unveils his latest wheeze – a Mexican evening with a free margarita for those who come in appropriate dress. Lynda protests that their guests generally prefer to be left to their own devices but Ray will have none of it.
• Tonight’s concert is sold out and the audience don’t seem too upset that the soloist is not Simone but the music teacher from the Cathedral School, also a cellist. Lynda had tickets but couldn’t make the effort to go. In the interval, Neil relates to Shula his encounter with Darrell. Shula wonders whether the church can find some money to help him; she will talk to Alan.
• Ian also protests. They have already taken bookings for the night of Ray’s special event. Ray’s answer is to take no more ‘ordinary’ bookings and fence off the existing patrons in a corner of the restaurant; actually he is so enthusiastic about his wonderful idea that he is convinced they will want to go Mexican. So Ian will have to put on two completely different menus that evening; as he tells Lynda, there is little to be done – Ray is the boss.
