Matt is delighted at the prospect of a new baby. Lilian is less than delighted. Tom longs for a new baby. Lynda knows all there is to know about new babies.

Radio Times: Something is bothering Lilian. Meanwhile, Lynda is overcome with emotion.

  • Lilian is taken aback when she finds Matt watching cartoons. He claims to be getting his hand in for the arrival of the baby, and he appears to be enthralled at the prospect of its arrival. Lilian does not share his enthusiasm; she is not ready to be a grandma, and wonders if she should have more cosmetic surgery. When Leonie texts to thank Matt for his advice, Lilian wants to know exactly what he said to James, but Matt reassures her. This could well be a turning point for James and Leonie.
  • Kirsty brings coffee and Christmas cake to Tom, who is battling wind, mud, piglets and pig arks. As Kirsty asks after the litter, Tom talks fondly of having their own children, and a Spring wedding. Kirsty thinks New Year’s Eve will be difficult; Helen seems incapable of holding a conversation at present. What a massive mistake Rob Titchener turned out to be says Tom.
  • With condescension wonderful even by her own standards, Lynda discusses the baby with Lilian, pointing out that her extensive experience with Oscar (one month’s stay to be exact) fits her perfectly for the role of chief grandmother. Meanwhile Lilian is told firmly that she is not to smoke around the baby or its mother
  • The final performance of Robin Hood takes place in front of a rapturous and participative audience, and is rounded off by the presentation of bouquets to both Maid Marian and Lynda, who is quite overcome with emotion.
