Tom has cause to deliver an ‘I told you so’ to Tony.

Radio Times: Tom cannot hide his anger, and Ruth is thoughtful.

  • When he’s finished with the pigs, Tom is joining Kirsty to view a show house. The coffee Pat brings is welcome but the news she bears is not; Dad has been preoccupied this morning with the death of one of his new cows. Tom is immediately worried about his pigs.
  • Ruth is still resisting help, trying to keep everything as normal as possible; David insists that she backs off and lets him do the more physical jobs. They do seem to be continuously fire-fighting. They are getting older and the work isn’t getting easier. Life’s hard enough; how will they cope with a baby and all the things that might go wrong. Ruth worries that they are taking on far too much. Is it right to bring another baby into the world anyway. David is worried too but also excited. It’s a blessing.
  • Alistair has recommended a post-mortem on the dead cow; it is unlikely to affect the rest of the herd – or Tom’s precious pigs – but they will just have to wait and see.
  • Wow! Kirsty is bowled over by the show house but Tom’s thoughts are still at Bridge Farm. They seem to have found their dream home, so they agree to snap up a plot. It feels so good to be doing this together.
