Tony calls a family meeting but refuses to have Rob or Peggy there, and refuses money from Peggy too.
Radio Times: Helen and Rob have news for Peggy. Meanwhile, Fallon is planning a party.
Characters: Alice, Fallon, Helen, Peggy, Rob, Tony- Helen is having a Bank Holiday lie in. Rob has decided they are going to see Peggy while she is so upset…. Rob says he’d seen Tom’s problems coming for a while. At least Helen has found someone to help out in the shop while Anya is away. Rob starts dropping hints that Helen is spending too much time in the shop. Tony rings to suggest a family meeting on Friday afternoon once he’s discussed things with Maurice. Helen wants Rob involved but Tony insists the meeting doesn’t include him.
- Fallon is selling things she has been doing up at a car boot sale. Alice buys a lamp from her. Fallon tells Alice that Robert had got himself into a state about Lynda’s birthday and Fallon suggests a theme party and she ends up as their party planner for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Fallon is going to arrange the whole thing and James and Leonie have been invited. Fallon suggests that they can’t have a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party without an Alice.
- Helen tells Peggy that Rob isn’t invited to the meeting. She is thinking about not going as well but Rob says she must speak for both of them and Peggy says she’ll need someone to keep the peace between Pat and Tony. Rob comes clean that Tom had asked for advice on how to sort his life out and what to do with the business and he’d asked him not to tell anyone until he’d gone. He admits he put Tom in contact with a mate in Ontario. Helen thinks that is so lovely. Tony doesn’t realise how much Rob has done. And Helen then spills out that they are engaged. Peggy thinks it’s wonderful. But Rob asks her to keep it quiet for a bit longer and she agrees but says she needs to have a chat with Tony all the same.
- Alice drops Peggy over to Bridge Farm for a chat. Peggy tells Tony that she knows he doesn’t want her advice on the pig business but she knows that Tom must have run up major debts. If it makes it easier for Tom to come home, she is prepared to provide some money to help out. Tony adamantly refuses to accept any help. She says they can think it over and discuss it at the meeting. Tony tells her he doesn’t want her there.
