Do Brian and Adam think buying Brookfield is a done deal? David doesn’t.

Radio Times: Things are moving quickly at Brookfield, and everyone is looking forward to Peggy’s party.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • The chatter at Bridge Farm is about how well grandson Johnny is doing; the feedback from his tutor was very positive. He seems a bit unsure of what Peggy thinks of him but Pat is sure that the present he has bought her will melt any reservations.
  • Carol Tregorran has agreed to read at Eddie’s Turkey Pardon event. Joe is critical that Eddie’s decision to pay her with a turkey is a bit OTT.
  • Brian is helping Adam and reports that Jennifer wants assurance that Ian will be joining them at Peggy’s party. Jennifer was pleased to hear of David and Ruth’s reaction; their accountant is keen too about buying Brookfield and so is Debbie. Brian is thinking of offering a bit under £5M and plans to sell the farmhouse plus a bit of land straight away. They look forward to putting one over on Charlie Thomas.
  • Pat spoke to Peggy earlier and got the impression she had woken her from a nap. Tony is planning to bring the herd in tomorrow; Pat will be on her course but he will get some help in – Eddie.
  • David has heard from Rodway’s that there has been considerable interest in Brookfield, not just from Brian. They recommend holding a kind of telephone auction before Christmas. They will keep Brian in the loop but he will have to bid against the rest. Graham Ryder thinks that, with a bidding war, his estimate of £4.5M might be left far behind; that would give them enough to buy the new place and make the necessary changes. Their calculations don’t seem to take David’s siblings into account.
