  • Lilian is off to the races with Justin, who has a good tip for the first race; it was good too – a 12:1 winner. His own horse comes third. Over lunch, Justin has a proposition: he needs someone to help him integrate in the county, a sort of social secretary. He wants Lilian to fill the role. Lilian thinks it could be fun.
  • Brian checks up on the progress Adam and Ed are making with implementation of the new cropping plan for Berrow Farm. Ed takes a call from his dad suggesting that they take in a few bullocks to graze on Grange Farm for a few months. Ed turns down the idea: subletting is not allowed. When Eddie is reluctant to take no for an answer Ed defers the matter until they can talk about it; right now he has work to do. Adam takes the opportunity to show Brian the condition of the soil where lucerne has been growing for two years.
  • Ed returns home to find Eddie busy on Lynda’s shepherd hut and rather miffed that Bert Fry has snaffled some old trailers at Brookfield; Bert wants them for the Fairbrothers’ egg-mobiles. Eddie noticed Pip and Rex deep in conversation in The Bull yesterday and has drawn the wrong conclusion. The subject of the bullocks comes up and, despite Ed’s protests, Eddie announces that he has already done the deal.
  • Back at Home Farm, Brian is not best pleased by Kate’s latest ploy: having failed to raise money from the family, she is putting her cottage back into holiday lets. Where will she live, Adam asks. She is moving back into Home Farm! Pour Brian a whisky, Adam, a large one.
