Characters: Brian, David, Eddie, Graham Ryder, Lynda, Phil, Ruth
- Graham’s checking up at Brookfield but rather than get riled at being told how to do his job, David decides to play it by the book so when Graham mentions a little mildew in a field, later David asks Graham to come point it out. The intention being to make it clear he can’t farm with Graham looking over his shoulder …
- Lynda felt “her” interview, which was actually dinner with the MD and his wife, went well, although she seems to have put her foot in it without realising (as we might have expected). Grimsby wasn’t as bad as it she had feared, it seems. She does feel a little put out though, that she’s not been contacted about “Isabella” while Clarrie and Jill have.
- It’s the new cricket season, a winning start to Sean’s captaincy, it seems, with no Eddie, who’s not been practising and is now busy ripping out the old parlour to prepare for the new.
- Brian checking after Simon – very calmly it seems. First at Brookfield – where he pleads ignorance about contract termination – then at the estate office, where Graham says that Simon could be in the Middle East for several months.
- Brookfield receives confirmation that the estate intends to break the contract after the harvest.
