Characters: Brian, Clarrie, Debbie, Pat, Phil, Shula, Tony
- The Grundys obviously haven’t been told about Simon’s decision to sell the estate. Tony thinks they should be told, although Pat disagrees. Pat is cautious about actually buying the farm but Tony really wants it. Some (potentially) dubious maths leaves Pat wanting to expand (she’s going to see a business unit on Friday), but Tony wanting to get a mortgage to raise the purchase price (which is likely to be about a quarter of a million). It seems that these two paths are not compatible.
- Another Brookfield decision – regarding the planting of a late maize crop – has been made that Phil didn’t know about and he’s getting more annoyed at the way he’s being sidelined.
- Shula visits Debbie, who’s still feeling fragile, although she did start to try to work today. The visit to the police was easier than she’d thought. They’ve contacted Richard – who had, apparently, suspected abuse all along. There was no comment on a potential outcome, but Debbie feels much better for having been.
- Phil’s touting for business to replace the contract work, first to Home Farm then to Bridge Farm. Tony spills the beans about the sale, which pleases and surprises Phil who then mentions it to Clarrie, who’s astonished.
