Characters: Betty, Clive, David, George, Janet, Mike, Pat

• George discovers Clive up a ladder half way up the church wall. Naturally he’s suspicious and slightly dubious of the various claims of helping the vicar out and doing favours.
• David’s in search of labour to help out with the harvest, John’s unavailable as they’re snowed under with work at Bridge Farm.
• Jason is still at large and unseen by Ambridge eyes for a while, which is not pleasing his employers at Brookfield or Bridge Farm. Pat has special reasons to be annoyed, they’re off to Florida on Monday and he’ll not have things as far along as they’d have hoped in the meantime.
• George talks to Janet, who admits that Clive was helping out with the guttering. He’s not convinced of the wisdom, although she’d rather preach forgiveness rather than George’s conviction of Clive’s not being redeemable.
• Clive’s in the shop again, being all too reasonable with a nervous Betty. Mike arrives and is not happy to see him in there and various amounts of flying of handles occurs and Betty tries to seperate them.
