  • John’s down in the dumps, driven to drinking solo in the Bull at lunch time. A concerned Roy and a generous Kenton can’t even make a free pint lighten his mood. Roy relays that Hayley’s commuting from Brum everyday, John says that moving back to April Cottage would solve that, but Roy doesn’t mention what Hayley’s alternative is …. moving to a job closer to her mum’s.
  • Kenton’s not just flashing his money around in the Bull, there’s presents for his neices and nephews – a trike which Daniel immediately adores, a dolls’ house for Pip and a huge teddy for Josh. These aren’t just early Christmas presents either, our flush Kenton is going to be in Ambridge for a traditional Brookfield Yuletide. His siblings (and sibling-in-law) seem to have mixed feelings.
  • David’s idea about taking John in to see Pip’s class went down a treat. The children were fascinated and Pip was in her element, the envy of all her classmates. Ruth’s determined that she’s going to make time for her daughter from now on.
  • John’s wallowing in the pit that April Cottage has become as Sharon calls. While she’s putting her case, he explodes and as he slowly falls apart she comforts him, spilling her feelings. She talks about Clive and how John is more of a father to Kylie than he ever was, after all, he couldn’t even remember her birthday, getting it two days late. While John is, slowly, almost audibly, making the connection (Hint: Kylie’s birthday was a Sunday, October 26th to be exact) he’s not hearing her profess her feelings and asking if he wants her to stay the night.
