Characters: Brian, David, Debbie, Kate, Marjorie, Mike, Tony
- Debbie and Brian are still not sure about livestock, Debbie (on David’s advice) thinks that keeping hold of the beef is a good idea, considering how small their operation is, while Brian thinks that dumping the beef and the deer makes sense.
- Kate’s starting a new job – in Telesales. After a few repetitions of her script she’s not enjoying it much and later gets a cab home (which Brian pays for) after getting sacked.
- Brian’s business partner, Matt Crawford, has caught wind of Pat’s article. He talks to Tony to see whether the article mentioning the pipeline. Tony admits that it does, but there’s nothing they – whether they are his landlords or not – can do about it. The copy’s gone in and he can read it in the Echo on Thursday like everyone else.
- Mike’s having a go at Marjorie’s beech tree. Despite Pat’s concern that cutting it peicemeal would be better, Mike tries to get it all down in one. He manages it, but it’s a little off target and Mrs A’s greenhouse – seedlings and all – goes tinkle which was, in Mike’s own words, “a little more spectacular that I’d planned ….”
