  • Hayley’s in The Bull to meet Roy (who’s late). Sid and Kathy extend their sympathies, as well as apologising in advance for not being at tomorrow’s funeral – the pub won’t run itself, which is still a bone of contention between them, made worse by Kathy getting an offer a regular work covering for a teacher on a regular, weekly course.
  • Brian’s plan are advancing well, although cutting out the venison and beef, he’s expanding the pheasant shoots. When he asks Debbie advice on the huge new harvester he’s considering, she’s shocked to say the least. It’s massive and she’s not convinced it’s worthwhile.
  • Debbie’s taking a break and is riding Tolly and bumps into Kathy, who’s taken Jamie for a walk lest she swing at Sid. They console each other with tales of belligerent men, plotting to try and plot their own course while, for a quiet life, try and make the male think it was his idea in the first place!
  • Sid and Kathy make up, and also decide that the funeral is more important that then pub as Kathy says how, when she was out walking, she couldn’t bear to walk into Bridge Farm, she just wanted to be at home, with her family.
  • Hayley visits Pat to break her news. As she nervously gets to the part about her refusing John’s proposal, Pat buts in. She can see where the nerves were leading but doesn’t want Hayley to say it. She launches into a speech about John’s death being a tragic accident and it being natural for everyone to look for reasons why they were to blame, but she doesn’t want Hayley to blame herself, any more than she wants Tony, who’s nervous about the HSE investigation, to blame himself. She asks Hayley if she’ll say a few words at the funeral, Hayley’s not sure she’ll be able to, but says she’ll think about it.
