• The World Cup is already causing ructions in Ambridge, Clarrie’s had a go at William for promising a friend of his he can go in Edward’s place and Eddie’s having to turn down offers of £200 a ticket, lest Clarrie has his “wotsits on a stick” for selling the boys’ seats.
• Birthday drinks for Neil in The Bull are under a little cloud: Susan is not pleased to learn that Betty and possibly Caroline will also be interviewing her, Mike’s still not happy with Neil for going for the same jobs that he is and Susan, who gave Neil a tie as a gift, is having a go at him for never going for interviews where he will have to wear it.
• Alistair’s been out to see Eric and it seems that he does have a problem with his undercarriage. It appears that he might have been doing it wrong the first few times and, Hayley is shocked to hear, that he might need a hand next time ….
