Characters: Clarrie, Eddie, Jack, Joe, Sean, Susan, Tommy
- Sean’s complaining to Jack this his golf course staff haven’t been giving the cricket ground the attention it deserves. His cricketing worries increase as Tommy’s rapid change of heart means that he refuses to play in the team while Sean is captain. A slightly strong reaction if all he’s basing it on is defeat in the final of the single wicket.
- Grange Farm is a den of conspiracy as Clarrie worries about the non-appearance (as far as she is concerned) of the football tickets. Eddie’s getting cold feet in anticipation of Clarrie’s wrath, but Joe reveals the bidding war (now up to Alistair’s offer of £500 for the pair). Only Joe also admits that he’s not actually mentioned which game on the 26th the tickets are for – he plans to hand them over in a sealed envelope and scarper, assuming that the purchases will be so embarrassed as to not complain!
- Susan’s not feeling too positive toward Jack either, convinced that he’s not going to offer her the job after all the singing and dancing. Eventually though he calls round to apologise and, having not realised how tiring Peggy is finding the work, he’s sure that she and Betty can work around the problem of Susan’s other part-time job. Can she start work in the shop on Monday?
