Arrangements for the wedding continue, meets the man from Damara Capital.

Radio Times: Adam has a surprise visitor, and Tony is annoyed with Tom.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Tom is at Bridge Farm talking to Kirsty on the phone. She has a cold. Alice apparently has some wonderful ideas about the wedding flowers but Tom hangs up as his parents approach. Tony is seriously unimpressed by Tom’s news of a major but very urgent sausage order, when he learns that Tom won’t be able to help in the poly-tunnels as promised. In the middle of their heated discussion, Tom wanders away to answer an important phone call.
  • As Adam leaves Home Farm to feed the deer, he’s stopped by Charlie Thomas, Justin Elliot’s estates manager, who has called by to introduce himself. He is Justin’s man on the ground. He wonders if Adam has a moment.
  • While Kirsty is bubbling over with all things floral, Tom generously agrees to leave the detail to her and Alice. Kirsty mentions that her mother may well not be able to come with her to the dress fitting on Wednesday due to illness in the family. Tom of course would offer to come himself, but tradition provides him with the perfect excuse. As far as he can see though, everything is bang on course for the wedding.
  • Adam seems taken aback by Charlie’s manner. Borchester Land will be the third estate he is handling for Damara Capital. He has turned the other two round very successfully. Adam starts to ask how Debbie’s current role as his manager fits into the scheme of things. Charlie clearly does not want to get tied up with job titles suggesting that they work more as a team. He agrees a strategic planning meeting with Adam tomorrow at eleven. As he leaves, he points out a patch of mildew on some wheat. Adam’s claim to have dealt with it meets with a rejoinder that he should deal with it again! Adam phones Brian for an urgent meeting.
  • Tony continues to be annoyed at being let down by Tom. Pat arranges for Susan to help him instead and insists that they should all pitch in view of the wedding. Tony is still not happy, but any help is better than none. Tom and Kirsty arrive with the news of Kirsty’s mother and Pat offers to go with Kirsty to the dress shop on Wednesday, providing Tony can get his own supper. Tony agrees, with ill grace.
  • Adam and Brian are discussing the forthcoming meeting with Charlie. Adam wonders just how the estate needs “turning round”. Brian insists that whatever happens, Debbie’s position should be clarified and that above all they need to stick together. Loss of the estate contract would be bad news, a point not lost on Adam. Brian tells Adam to be firm but not to pick a fight. Diplomacy is the key word.
