Between farm work and wedding planning, Tom is feeling the strain.

Radio Times: Kirsty has a crisis, and Tom is very pushed.

  • It’s a sign of their status as farm owners rather than tenants that Lady Day has passed by unnoticed; Pat has only just realised. They rejoice that they don’t have a landlord any more. There is to be a cake baking competition, organised by the WI and that had passed Tony by too. Clarrie and Susan are running coaching sessions but Helen is getting her wisdom from Ian.
  • The course of wedding planning rarely runs smoothly: a guest has declined – just the one, so hardly a big impact – but Tom and Kirsty have to decide who to promote from the reserve list. There’s worse to come: the photographer has pulled out, so they need to find a replacement at short notice. These weighty problems are obviously taking their toll on Tom because when his father suggests that he helps to prepare the seed bed for the carrots, Tom bites his head off.
  • Things are looking up at St Stephens: the organ will be back in service by Easter. Alan must make contact with Shula: he needs a donkey for Palm Sunday. The Passion Play is still a worry: Chris is still saying no to taking over the part of Jesus, though Neil is sure that Alice too is bending his ear.
  • Having been on the receiving end of Tony’s Tom-induced ill-temper, Pat tries a bit of mediation with Tom. Is a compromise possible? If dad starts the job, Tom might be able to finish it towards the end of the week. Meanwhile, the hunt for a new photographer is not going well; they don’t like the style of the one their original man has suggested. It’s a disaster.
