Brian is suspicious of everyone and Pip confides her love for Matthew to Jill.
Radio Times: Lilian may be getting her mojo back, and Toby has some advice for Pip.
Characters: Adam, Brian, Jennifer, Jill, Lilian, Pip, Toby- Lilian finds her photo in Borsetshire Life and she and Jennifer admire the way she looks in red. Lilian mentions she feels she may be getting her mojo back. Jenny indicates that the right moment must be chosen to tell Brian that Lilian is planning to move in permanently. Brian enters and Lilian exits diplomatically but Brian begins to complain about the mess that Lilian leaves everywhere. Brian expresses some doubts about joining the BL board again; he will just become a lightning rod for all dissenting opinions. It may just bring too much trouble into his life. Brian finds one further item to grouse upon; why is Kate avoiding him and what is happening with her business? Jenny knows nothing and she hasn’t seen much of Kate either.
- Toby hails Pip while she is driving machinery. Toby refers to Pip’s ‘broken heart’ but Pip says that nothing has ended with Matthew’s move. She is going to meet his parents. Toby laughs at that old chestnut and claims he just doesn’t want Pip to get hurt. Jill turns up to interrupt Toby’s liberal spreading of the seeds of doubt. Oh dear, Jill frostily notes that she brought only two cups so it is just as well that Toby was leaving.
- Brian can’t believe that Jennifer doesn’t know more about Kate’s situation. Perhaps Kate is writing up a full report and that is taking up her time, declares Jenny loyally. Brian is still suspicious that Jennifer is covering up for their daughter. Adam turns up for a hot drink and he has his turn as the cause of Brian’s irritation. Brian wants Adam to do an excellent job with his presentation to the Board; they need to get that contract back.
- Pip and Jill have a chat. What did Toby want, asks Jill? She is afraid that he was trying to get Pip to change her mind about Toby’s egg scheme. Jill asks approvingly about Matthew; she is supportive about Matthew’s desire for Pip to meet his parents. Pip confides her strong feelings and hopes for a future with Matthew to her grandmother who is thrilled.
- Lilian and Jennifer are very pleased with their purchase of a new dress with shoes for Lilian’s future social plans. Jennifer asks Lilian if she knows what is going on with Kate. Lilian points out that projects often take twice as long and cost three times as much as expected. Lilian hints that it is not going to be good news from Kate so no point in delaying the news about Lilian’s residency to Brian. Brian walks in and accuses Jenny of plotting. Everyone is out to get him!
