Radio Times: It is busy at the swishing event, and Oliver takes control.

  • Lynda barges into Caroline’s office and finds her in agony. She refuses to go home and insists she will still be going to the swishing event too.
  • Susan helps Jennifer with the set up for the swishing. It’s hard to tell if Jennifer was more annoyed at her praising all of Sabrina’s decorations or fed up that she didn’t like any of hers. It’s perfectly clear that Susan is going to try to take advantage of her “free” entry for volunteering to get hold of the best donations and has dumped looking after the cloakroom on Hilary Noakes. Though why anyone in England is going to need a coat….. Jennifer is annoyed Lilian isn’t helping out but she and Susan both blame it on Brenda’s irresponsibility
  • Lynda telephones Oliver to tell him how ill Caroline is and he insists on taking her straight home and on taking her place at the swishing. Later Lynda calls Caroline offering alternative remedies but Caroline is off to the Doctor in the morning. Now all she wants to do is go to sleep.
  • Jolene is the first arrival. She would have been late but Kenton arranged for Rhys to come in early. Jolene wonders why he’s being so nice. A lot of slightly off compliments ensue with Jolene suggesting Susan’s shrug is too young for her, Lynda suggesting the tops Jolene donated were too tarty and lots of gossip about the size of various feet in a fight over Annabelle’s ankle boots.
  • The swishing takes £500 on the door but the better news is that an American relation of Zebedee Tring has donated $15000 to the organ fund. Jennifer feels guilty for not even asking what was wrong with Caroline and Oliver sounds worried, he doesn’t know what is wrong but she looked dreadful. He only hopes the Doctor doesn’t find out she’s done some lasting harm.
