Caroline makes a big decision; she needs a new Roy.
Radio Times: Caroline receives an important letter, while Joe is left disappointed.
Characters: Caroline, Clarrie, Eddie, Joe, Oliver, Pat- Good news! Caroline has heard from the local authority that they are not going to prosecute. That’s a load off her mind. Oliver urges her to enjoy the moment and suggests a leisurely, carefree lunch – not quite carefree, as there is no word from Joe yet about their revised offer. As Oliver points out, they may not even have received the offer yet, with two solicitors in the loop.
- No sign of Helen in the dairy this morning; her ‘migraine’ is still laying her low.
- Joe has not had a happy time at the fracture clinic; even small movements of his fingers are painful. The doctor has recommended dispensing with the splint some of the time; despite Eddie’s encouragement that it will make the wrist stronger Joe is not happy about that. The thought of compensation doesn’t cheer him up either, though Eddie is furious that they haven’t had a revised offer yet.
- Lunch is one thing but Caroline is strictly abstemious about wine with it; she has work to do. Oliver is full of praise for her managerial skills; she shouldn’t keep on doing the work of a deputy manager. She agrees; they can’t afford not to have a deputy any longer. So they get down to drafting a job description straight away – but it is not to be published before she has told the staff.
