Clarrie’s party is a total success, the farm inspection approaches.
Radio Times: Clarrie celebrates her birthday, while Tony and Pat have a lot on their plate.
Characters: David, Eddie, Lynda, Maurice, Tony, William- Will shows David the surprise photograph for Clarrie’s birthday. He also complains about having to clear up after Kirsty left such a mess from her bonfire. David promises to get Ben to make a run for the baby hedgehogs prior to release.
- Maurice helps Tony pack sausages after a machinery breakdown. They can see light at the end of their particular tunnel and Tony is very grateful for the help.
- Clarrie admires the glitter ball in the barn at Brookfield, along with Eddie and David. David compliments them on their fancy dress but can’t quite work out who Eddie is supposed to be. Clarrie is impressed with the photograph.
- Maurice shares with Tony his thoughts on how Tom should have dealt with the wedding situation – that is marry on the day and divorce shortly after! Tony was horrified; it would have made a mockery of the whole day. The conversation starts to take a descent into gloominess so Tony takes his opportunity to leave and get ready.
- The party is in full swing in the Barn at Brookfield. Lynda is in good form catering 70’s nibbles. David causes mild offence by not recognising that Lynda is indeed in fancy dress, Beverly from Abigail’s Party… of course! Eddie takes a moment to thank everyone for coming and bursts into a rendition of “She”. So that’s who he was… Charles Aznavour, Clarrie’s favourite. Clarrie is dumbstruck and the party sails blissfully on its way.
- A little later, Eddie presents Clarrie with tickets to see Charles Aznavour at the Albert Hall. Eddie manages to get Clarrie to see just what an achievement it is to reach sixty and be one of the most popular and respected women in Ambridge. Clarrie just has to agree…”I must be the luckiest woman in the whole world” she agrees.
