  • David and Elizabeth begin to help Jill move. Jill is making a fuss and suggests they should have asked Kenton. David tells her there is no way he would have agreed. He didn’t even turn up for the meal. There is no news about whether he will accept the loan.
  • Heather is counting the days until the move to Brookfield but there is still so much to do. The house needs a coat of paint and Ruth is beginning to take stuff to the charity shops though she has kept a particular picture. Ruth is surprised to hear the plan for the ewe hogs and isn’t impressed she wasn’t consulted.
  • Susan is still sulking about the Bridge Farm shop. Clarrie tries to cheer her up and says the farm shop won’t be all bad. There will be more yoghurts and butter and even more sausages so that is more work for them and Neil. Susan isn’t convinced the village will ever be the same again. Losing the village hall will lose so many memories. Clarrie says she first kissed Eddie there. Neil hasn’t heard back from Justin Elliott about it yet but a meeting has been arranged.
  • David isn’t sure what Jill wants the writing table for but Jill insists she needs it. Jill then starts moaning about the lack of a fitted carpet and makes a fuss when Elizabeth offers to get her one. Elizabeth asks her if she is really happy about moving to Lower Loxley but Jill avoids answering.
  • Clarrie tells Susan she is getting fed up of living in one room with Eddie. He is talking about Joe’s 94th birthday next week. Clarrie has forbidden a party at Grey Gables. It’s a drink at The Bull or nothing.
  • Ruth rings David at a time when he is dealing with a dead calf inside its mother. He has to cut her off when Alistair arrives and she sounds defeated.
