David faces the wrath of his family.
Radio Times: David and Ruth have a difficult meeting, and Fallon is looking for fun.
Characters: David, Elizabeth, Emma, Fallon, Kenton, Ruth, Shula- In a thoroughly bad temper, Fallon prepares to start her Halloween cooking in The Bull’s kitchen. Kenton thinks Freda will not be happy, but Fallon brushes his concerns about the cooking and her frame of mind aside. Emma arrives to help and reminds Kenton that he is due at Brookfield.
- As he prepares to face the family, David is none too happy, but as usual Ruth brushes his concerns aside in the soft and concerned voice we have all come to dread. Jill has gone to see Chris, to the surprise of David’s siblings. Addressing them as though they were a public meeting, David pompously informs his family that they must consider all options and alternatives. Elizabeth, Shula and Kenton erupt in shock and anger, with Kenton voicing the unspeakable – when will they get their money? And is Heather really relevant to all this?
- Emma really enjoys her cooking, but attributes Fallon’s low spirits to Harrison Burns. Fallon is quick to disabuse her of this. For Emma, the afternoon has been a welcome break from bored children and Ed’s business worries. Fallon suggests a night out at a Halloween film
- As Shula and Elizabeth finally calm down, they agree that they must keep up their opposition to route B, and the family part amicably. David is just glad the meeting is over, but again Ruth fails to address the truth, saying it wasn’t too bad after all. The family are all on board. Yes, says David; but for how long?
