  • Lilian and Jennifer discuss how awful Tony looks even though the blood thinners seem to be working. Tom still doesn’t know because they can’t locate him. Phoebe won’t go back to live with Roy even though he calls often and begs her to return. Richard Grenville, Carol’s son, has agreed to meet with Jennifer. Jennifer is determined to play the sleuth and to uncover Carol’s murder of John. How Carol’s son will help in this endeavour is unmentioned.
  • A family meeting is called for David to announce the sale of Brookfield Farm to Justin Elliott. They are gob-smacked by the amount so no problems from the siblings, apparently.
  • Over tea, Richard Grenville tells Jennifer that John Tregorran was “ill for some time and it wasn’t pleasant.” This is not enough to put Jennifer off the scent. John was a wonderful influence on Richard even though he was only his step-father. Jennifer asks why Richard didn’t come to the funeral. He couldn’t face seeing his mother after what she did. Jennifer excitedly asks if Carol was responsible for John’s death. No, replies a startled Richard, he is still angry with his mother for leaving John and it is hard to forgive her for breaking up the family.
  • Kenton focusses on the riches but Shula is worried about what will happen to the land. David warns that this must be kept confidential and he looks meaningfully at Kenton.
  • Jennifer runs to Lilian to report on her detecting but her account ignores Richard’s correction about his absence from the funeral. She is convinced that he meant to imply something darker. Lilian laughs off Jennifer’s suspicions but Jennifer is convinced that Carol’s herbal remedies could have contained an undetectable poison.
