Elizabeth finds Kenton’s plan unforgivable. Harrison’s plan for women cricketers is lost.
Radio Times: Kenton enacts his scheme, and Harrison has his work cut out.
Characters: Alistair, Elizabeth, Fallon, Freddie, Harrison, Kenton, Rex, Shula- It’s cool, Freddie. That’s Kenton’s opinion of his cunning plan to keep Freddie’s true maths performance from Elizabeth at tonight’s parents’ evening. What could possibly go wrong? Delay, that’s what. Freddie is dispatched to take his mum to visit an art exhibition upstairs; Kenton is nearly at the front of the maths tutor’s queue.
- Alistair is objecting to upgrading the practice waiting room but with Shula backing Anisha, resistance is futile.
- Fallon is having trouble satisfying Jennifer about the party; she has raised objections to everything Fallon has suggested so far. Right now, Fallon and Harrison have the Cricket AGM and dinner to contend with; the issue of women players is coming up under AOB to retain the element of surprise – really, in Ambridge.
- Elizabeth returns to the maths tutor’s queue too soon and she is hopping mad with Kenton. She was embarrassed but worst of all is that she was deceived by her son and her brother. Kenton is a bad influence on him, so there will be no more driving lessons, indeed no contact at all.
- Harrison lays out the blunt truth: not enough people want to play cricket any more. So he suggests admitting women to the team; the league has approved the move. Molly Button has agreed to play; others will follow (but not Fallon). Sadly the vote is lost but the objectors have nothing to offer in its place. Rex will try to persuade Anisha; if he fails that will probably the death of cricket in Ambridge.
