Hayley disguises her hurt. Is there a plot being hatched against Brian?
Radio Times: Hayley tries to put on a brave face, while Annabelle has her ear to the ground.
Characters: Annabelle, Brian, Darrell, Elona, Hayley, Jennifer- Darrell is expecting some more fitted wardrobes today from Bernie and he doesn’t seem entirely happy about it. Elona is much better pleased that Matt has put his employment on a firm footing – and the recent bonus was very generous. It has helped them to buy a keyboard for daughter Ana; Darrell will collect it today.
- Jennifer approves of Phoebe’s newly decorated bedroom and sympathises with Hayley over Phoebe’s delayed return. Hayley realises that she is being a bit unfair to sound off to Jennifer about it but she does make it clear that the whole family is upset. Nothing specific but Hayley plants a seed of doubt in Jennifer’s mind that maybe all is not well in South Africa – something Roy said after talking to Kate. A musical text message arrives from Phoebe: “Sorry if I have let you down. Tuns of love.”
- The keyboard is a big hit though Darrell is still a bit subdued, prompting his wife to wonder what he isn’t telling her.
- There’s good news for Brian: BL have first option on the Valley Farm buildings thanks, it would appear, to BAFF getting so much up the owner’s nose that he has offered it to BL at a very fair price. Jennifer was just starting to pass on the concern about Kate but a phone call from Annabelle gets in the way; she reports that Gerry has been asking for detailed figures for the arable contact between the Estate and Home Farm. What is he up to? Brian isn’t worried; he believes that the contract was fairly and openly won so they are bomb-proof.
- Left on her own, Hayley replays Phoebe’s message – and sobs.
