Heather arrives and Ruth finally breaks down but feels better after a long chat.

Radio Times: Ruth needs her mother, and an April Fool takes a serious turn.

Ruth is still refusing to take it easy but meantime David has gone to collect Heather from the station as a surprise. David tells Heather he is worried about Ruth and hasn’t told her she was coming because Ruth would just insist it wasn’t necessary.
When Rob leaves his house in the morning, he finds his car wheels stolen and PC Burns identifies Kenton as the culprit. Kenton says it was just a prank but PC Burns says it was still criminal. Kenton admits the wheels are hidden under a pig arc. Fallon is surprised to find PC Burns at The Bull and he says he didn’t realise it was such a nest of criminals. He takes Kenton to find the wheels.
When Ruth finally sees Heather, she breaks down in tears. Heather tells Ruth about miscarriages she had had that Ruth had no idea about. She says you never forget and that it takes time. She still wonders how her babies would have been if they survived. She tells Ruth how special she was once she was finally born. Ruth cries again and worries David but she says it’s only because Heather has been telling her some lovely things.
Rob takes quite a while to calm down over the wheels but seems to take it better when he understands Jazzer was swapping Tom’s drinks.
PC Burns helps Fallon carry stuff back to the flat and is interested to hear Rhys has now left. He reminds her she has his phone number if she should ever need anything.
