Heather is safe but shaken. David and Ruth will miss the party.

Radio Times: Pip tries to keep things moving, while Jolene and Kenton face an uphill struggle.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Jill is grateful to Jolene for persuading Kenton to come to Sunday’s birthday party. Hopefully they will all play nicely together. Jill explains why she must dash off to help Pip who is running the farm by herself.
  • Ruth phones to say that the police were there when she and David arrived; they found Heather inside her house, having fallen in the kitchen with the door bolted. She hadn’t broken anything, but had had a shock. Pip is going ahead with the interviews; it can’t be put off; Jason from the agency will help. She will need to tell Shula that her parents will not make the party.
  • Kenton doesn’t know yet that his beloved brother will not be at the party but has decided that it might not be so bad after all; they can rise above it. There is a long awaited letter from the insurers; due to prexisting uninsured damage to the foundations, they cannot proceed with the flood repairs. The foundations must be repaired first. Kenton estimates it will cost £30-50k. It’s the end of the road, unless they can borrow from someone but Kenton would not hear of borrowing from ‘them’.
  • Jill thinks Pip has done incredibly well. Everything is under control and a decision on which milker to take on has been made, though she will talk to mum and dad before finalising it. It was odd interviewing strangers about a job she knows well. Jill breaks out the champagne to celebrate Pip’s degree; not quite the grand celebration that had been planned. Jill tells her that they will all really miss her but wishes her good luck.
