  • Ruth and David prepare for the final consignment of cows. Lynda joins them. She is very complimentary about their new herd and then asks if the family would like to take part in her planned Easter event, marking the opening of the village hall. David and Ruth are quite emphatic; they’ll be up to their ears in all sorts of work. Lynda will regretfully have to look elsewhere.
  • While cooking soup, Helen suggests to Rob that they consider getting help with the shop. He can’t believe his ears, Tom’s involved with producing scotch eggs and according to Tony, Johnny is in line for a job when his apprenticeship ends. The shop can’t bear further expense! Helen bravely suggests that Rob might look for a paid job after the birth of their baby. Aghast, he points out that he’s only doing all of this for Helen and their boys. Now, where’s his toast, or is that down to him too?
  • Lynda tries to interest Kirsty in litter picking for the Clean for the Queen event. Kirsty is trying to escape on her afternoon off, but offers to put up a poster in the Health Club. She asks about Lynda’s new shepherd’s hut. She’s not seen it yet. In fact, it’s proving very difficult to pin Eddie down to arrange a viewing! Kirsty manages to make an exit with Lynda in mid-flow.
  • The last of the cows are finally in. David and Ruth take a moment to take a good long look at them. Jill has invited Peggy and Carol for lunch on Sunday and David’s offered take them on a tour of the farm. He’s still worried about the upcoming calving but Ruth seems to think that the breed is fairly self-sufficient. They both agree that it’s the start of a new chapter for Brookfield.
  • Kirsty is visiting Helen, who can’t remember if Ursula passed on the phone message. She claims that the pregnancy has knocked her sideways. Kirsty pushes on, asking if everything is all right at home … with Rob. She’s there if Helen needs to talk. Helen can take no more. In floods of tears, she shouts at Kirsty to leave, to go away, just as Rob walks in. He delights in throwing her out, telling her not to return. As for Helen, Rob assures her that he’s there to look after her. Isn’t it just wonderful to see a plan coming together?
