James makes a discovery and seeks Matt’s counsel.
Radio Times: Susan is looking for someone to blame. Meanwhile, James needs advice.
Characters: Ed, George, James, Leonie, Matt, Rosa, Susan- Out walking with Scruff, Leonie is surprised to be confronted by James. He wants to talk. Go away; leave me alone. He persists but she makes him promise that, if she tells him the problem, he will go away. She tells him that she is pregnant and he goes away with a lot to think about.
- Ed turns up at Grange Farm to find Rosa at work. She is introduced to the new member of the family, Holly, off for a walk with George and Susan. Ed tells her where Darrell spent Christmas Day. He also tells her that his shoplifting was for her Christmas present.
- James heads for the Dower House. Ma is at Bridge Farm but he chats to Matt and explains the crux of the issue. It’s been a shock to him; this wasn’t part of the plan; it’s not what he signed up for. Matt lays out the options: walk away, tell Leonie he loves her but is not ready to be a dad, or bite the bullet.
- After their walk Susan, who is keen to help Darrell herself, has promised Clarrie that she will take him some provisions. When they get there, Rosa is hovering outside but eventually decides that she can’t go in to see her dad.
- So which option would Matt take, James asks. Well, Matt never went down the fatherhood route – the time never seemed right – but maybe if had his time over again he would do it differently. It is time to take stock. If James ever does plan to start a family, maybe now is the time; it might not come again.
