  • Helen is sleepwalking and Henry is alarmed but not too disturbed. Rob intervenes.
  • Edward is going to college to get his spraying qualification and he is nervous. Eddie jokes that a Grundy at college is like a mule in a discotheque. Nice. Eddie and Joe are painting the shepherd’s hut although Eddie is using a combination primer and undercoat to save money. Eddie is looking forward to his birthday and Joe spills the news about the surprise party. Joe cautions Eddie to be gobsmacked when he walks in. Joe is worried that the bed is too flimsy and too small. Eddie argues that Lynda and Robert won’t need to sleep in the hut; don’t they have a proper house to stay in?
  • Rob is getting Henry ready for school. Helen comes in and she doesn’t feel great. Rob tells her she was sleepwalking and Rob makes out that Henry was very frightened. Henry says he was fine but Rob tells Helen that she was being abusive and terrifying. Rob has made an appointment today with a psychiatrist for Helen. It needs addressing immediately, Rob intones.
  • Joe and Eddie turn up see Lynda and she wants to go over the plans for the garden. Joe asks Lynda how much she weighs for the bed in the hut. Lynda is outraged and refuses. They will just have to guess. Joe begs for tea and biscuits and Lynda finally agrees but demands good progress in return. Joe tells Eddie that Bert isn’t happy with Lynda’s plans. Lynda returns and reports that she has seen the Fairbrothers’ henhouse. She has confirmed her order.
  • Helen emerges from the visit with the psychiatrist. Rob has told Helen what to report and Helen agrees that she said what Rob wanted. Everything is Helen’s fault and she is acting irrationally, even attacking Rob physically. The doctor has referred Helen for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and offered antidepressants. Rob is being very brave but Helen is ill and her sickness must be addressed.
