Kirsty returns; Helen is distraught; Rob is chastised.
Radio Times: There is a surprise visitor at Ambridge Organics, and Rob gets to know the boss.
Characters: Charlie, Elizabeth, Helen, Pat, Rob, Roy- Elizabeth sympathises with Pat at Lower Loxley about there being no news from Tom, when suddenly Roy, his best man, storms in proclaiming “good news”. For a second, Pats hopes ride high, but no, the news is only about matters concerning the forthcoming festival.
- Rob’s lateness, caused by personal problems, delays his meeting with Charlie who makes it crystal clear that there seem to be a good deal of personal problems flying about and that just won’t wash! In particular, they have difficulties with their yield figures. They adjourn to the office to discuss. In the light of Charlie’s mood, this could prove more than tricky.
- Helen blames Pat for the absence of a carrot order, being amazed that she didn’t check before leaving. Pat makes it clear that she is working under pressure and Helen tries her luck asking for a little help in putting up the display. There is no chance. The phone is ringing off its hooks. The door opens… it’s Kirsty. Silence reigns. It’s not a social call, Pat continues with her Underwoods run, Kirsty and Helen continue to the office to find Kirsty’s grandmother’s pen and her overtime claim.
- Rob’s meeting with Charlie goes from bad to worse, no matter what Rob says about lack of performance, Charlie can find no excuse; he is on a mission to destroy. At present there is no cause for alarm but further management failure will set the bells ringing. Rob needs to “up” his game quite sharply. The threat is all too clear.
- Roy and Elizabeth are talking about the proposed festival. Elizabeth is unhappy with the business that the new Ramsbury Fair has taken from Lower Loxley. Roy should have spotted the trend. He reassures her that she will see matters differently when she sees her first festival and experiences the campsite. She is not amused. Sleep under canvas? Her?
- Helen tells Kirsty that she should not return to work before she is fully ready. Kirsty tells her to “stick” her job; there is no way she is returning. Helen tries to claim her friendship but she will have none of it, true friends keep an eye out for each other, Helen didn’t. She knew it was all going wrong yet said nothing. Kirsty was humiliated… in public. Helen should remember that before inflicting her friendship on anyone else. Kirsty leaves Helen in tears.
