Lilian avoids Vicky and Mike in Cheltenham but bumps into them on the train home.

Radio Times: Lilian faces an awkward encounter, and Vicky is determined to enjoy herself.

• Vicky and Mike and Paul and Lilian are all out for the day in Cheltenham. It is hard to say which couple was the more annoyingly sentimental. Paul buys a new and expensive dress for Lilian for Christmas and she buys him the stunningly original cufflinks. Paul was planning on driving her back to Hollerton Junction but Matt rings and says he will pick her up so Paul drives her to Felpersham instead to pick up the train there.
• Mike and Vicky are on the train home when they are surprised to see Lilian getting on at Felpersham. Lilian has to stutter some sort of excuse that she’d got off the train to move further forward and says she will have to dash because Matt is in a hurry. But Matt spots them and offers them a lift. Vicky doesn’t give her away – she is more interested in her purchases for the baby but Matt does see the dress Paul gave her and assumes that it is Lilian’s choice of a gift from him. She’ll have to wear it on Christmas day.
