Lilian’s activities arouse Matt’s suspicions.

Radio Times: Brenda makes an arrangement and Matt receives interesting information.

• In Matt’s view there is something strange about the dog fighting episode; strange that they just happened to pick on Brian’s barn. Perhaps they had inside information. Matt tells Lilian he is not going to Gilbert’s Cross today; he’s playing golf with Andrew Eagleton.
• Pip is back in Ambridge, from where she will be able to fulfill her milking commitments tomorrow morning. Tom already knows why she has come today and the answer is no; there is no additional milking and, though she must keep this under her hat, there will soon be no milking at all because they are selling the cows. OMG! How is she going to save up for a new car? Tom can offer her work on the burger van, since Brenda won’t be doing it, and if she will train somebody up then the rate could be a bit higher.
• The golf is not going Andrew’s way but then he reports that he had bumped into Lilian at the races with a builder. Matt is flabbergasted – so much so that he slices into the rough.
• Brenda bumps into Tom outside the shop and arranges to call and pick up some of her things. He had hoped that she might have another reason for coming round, but no.
• In The Bull, Pip is putting up a notice offering her services as an experienced relief milker. She nearly blurts out to Lilian the imminent change at Bridge Farm but then calls Spencer and tells all.
• Lilian wonders how was Matt’s afternoon. Good. Well, Andrew did mention seeing Lilian at the races. Lilian’s explanation that she was there with a female friend doesn’t quite fit the information from Andrew but Matt keeps that to himself – for now.
