  • Jill and Lynda are distressed upon examining the Village Hall. Derek Fletcher has suggested that it should be torn down. The insurance pay-out is a worry and rebuilding would be very expensive, but the two women reminisce about the important of the Hall to village life. Lilian comes up and Lynda wishes to talk to her about Mungo’s birthday celebration.
  • Rob calls Charlie and Charlie says that he has not notified Justin yet and he hopes things can be smoothed out. Rob laughs nastily and says he wants to come in to pick up personal items. And, he insinuates, he has a few other things to discuss that Charlie may want to consider.
  • Pip and Jill discuss the collecting of eggs and Jill points out that there are rotten bits on the hen house that need attention. Pip notes that Toby has asked her to come along to speak to a restaurant in order to flog his geese. Jill is sturdily quiet on this collusion and she changes the subject with praises of Pip’s energy and her desire to experience new places. Jill is nostalgic about all the happy times she and Pip have had. Jill would love to give her a big send-off meal. Including Kenton and Jolene, Pip asks naughtily?
  • Lynda wants to book a child’s entertainer but Lilian is sceptical about the ability of a one year old to enjoy such an experience. Lynda wants Mungo to learn to socialise properly but Lilian is a bit scathing. Kate has good news, Lilian reports. Debbie was so impressed with Kate’s business plan that Debbie has decided to invest.
  • Rob arrives at his former office to collect his photos and wellies. Charlie says he is sorry that things ended this way. Rob is scathing in his words: They are two different types of men and Rob is open and honest about what he is, a family man. He is using the coded language again. Charlie asks exactly what that means, but Rob is evasive. Rob next brings up the reference issue. When Charlie balks, Rob insinuates he could say something spiteful about Charlie and his ‘associates’. Rob boasts that he is part of important local family and could make trouble for Charlie socially. Charlie understands Rob’s underlying meaning and he seems to capitulate very quickly. When Rob asks what Charlie plans to tell the board, Charlie answers, ‘Exactly what you have said’. Hmmm, that can be interpreted in an entirely different way than the positive way Rob hears it.
