Lynda tells Kate that if the costumes aren’t ready by Tuesday she will disown the show and leave the whole thing to Kate.

Radio Times: Lynda fears for her reputation, and Rex needs another pair of hands.

  • Rex is struggling to deliver the geese and gets cross with Toby because he hasn’t helped with the deliveries. Toby didn’t know he was expected to help. He agreed to help kill and dress them in return for the still. Toby asks for a 50:50 split, he claims jokingly. Rex throws a strop and says he’ll cope on his own.
  • An inflatable Santa turned up in the garden of Bridge Farm. Tom thinks it was a drunken prank but Kirsty is clearly more suspicious. No one at the panto rehearsal seems to have found Kate. She seems to be implying that the cast will have to provide their own costumes. Kirsty goes to pieces in the rehearsal; she can’t remember her lines at all. She is obviously distracted by something. Lynda thinks it must be the relationship with Tom but it obviously isn’t.
  • Kate puts in an appearance at the rehearsal but as soon as Lynda is aware she is there, she disappears. Then Rex appears wanting Toby and he escapes the rehearsal too. Lynda becomes increasingly stressed. She can’t imagine the reviews in the Echo. And after all she’s done over the years. The panto is a farce. She’ll never be able to show her face in theatrical circles again.
  • Rex has to beg Toby to help out with the deliveries. He offers 70:30 which Toby eventually accepts. Kate appears and scrounges a lift out of Rex, then she suggests a drink first and then that they should go back to Rex’s place. Rex resists her attempts and says he will drop her home as he agreed. The Lynda appears. Kate tries to hide but Rex betrays her. Lynda demands to know if the costume outfits will be ready for the dress rehearsal. Kate says of course. Lynda is pleased to hear it. But if the costumes aren’t ready by then, she will disown the whole show and leave it entirely in Kate’s hands.
  • Tom, Kenton and Kirsty try to calm Lynda down. These things are supposed to be fun and Lynda is the only one not enjoying herself. No one wants it to be a disaster; she just needs to have some faith in her cast.
