  • There’s bad news for Jazzer: he has to say goodbye to his ‘girls’ tomorrow; the pigs are going to market. Tony and Pat see no point in delay. Tony promises to give him as much work as they can with the veg boxes and driving the tractor; his milk round is not enough on its own.
  • Fallon is having her arm twisted to join in the quiz tonight in The Bull, which has a World Cup theme. Jolene is relying on her. Jolene readily recruits Jazzer to Fallon’s team; Lynda takes more persuasion but agrees too. PC Burns (or should we call him Harrison as he is off duty) needs no persuasion at all, though neither Jazzer nor Fallon welcome the addition.
  • Tony is off to see a bull of a different kind. Before he goes, he raises the prospect of buying in some organic pork to keep the sausage business going; it’s worth thinking about. Pat and Tony are very supportive of David in his effort to oppose the new road – Option B at least – but their main worry right now is Helen. News of her engagement is now all round the village. Much as they dislike Rob, Helen has made her choice so they have to accept that he is going to be their son-in-law.
  • At the quiz, the main opposition is from Hilary Noakes’ team. But closer to hand there is a rivalry within Fallon’s team. The last question is name the country north of Ghana. Jazzer is sure that the answer is Burkina Faso but Harrison Burns’ suggestion of Togo is chosen as the team’s answer. Jazzer was right and Team Noakes wins. PC Burns apologises to Jazzer for not listening to him; the fact that he did so and the way that he did it impress Fallon.
