Pip is uncertain about her future prospects, Ed and Will prove that oil and water don’t mix without a good deal hard work
Radio Times: Pip is on tenterhooks, while things do not go Ed’s way.
Characters: David, Ed, Eddie, Joe, Pip, William- Eddie and Joe are round at Roy’s house cutting their ferrets claws. Joe suggests selling Roy a kit as a companion as he suspects Roy enjoys their company! Eddie just can’t get over the villagers generosity with regard to the wedding. Joe however is still fretting about the issue of the best man. As they finish he puts the butter he had borrowed from Roy’s fridge to pacify the ferrets, back where it came from… having removed the hairy bits! Toast at Roy’s anyone?
- David is weighing sheep with Pip before he heads to Felpersham with Jim to discuss the flood risk assessment. David’s fraught meeting with Kenton comes up in conversation. Pip reckons that Ruth should be left to pour oil on troubled waters. Pip’s job interview went fairly well given that she arrived late, having been delayed by Toby Fairbrother. She will know more in a few days.
- Ed approaches Will at work and finally asks him to be his best man. Will can’t believe what he’s hearing, given what happened when roles were reversed some years ago. As tempers begin to flare, Ed tactlessly says that he’s only asking to keep the family happy! Will responds in equal measure and Ed’s offer is unceremoniously withdrawn.
- Eddie takes a break from repairing Bartleby’s shelter and has a cider with Joe, who still can’t get over seeing Richard Locke at The Stables and Alistair apparently not turning a hair. An angry Ed turns up and recounts his argument with Will. He feels stupid because though he can’t stand Will, he is his brother after all.
