Pip moves out because of tensions with Josh and Johnny lands the date of his dreams for the Isle of Wight Festival.

Radio Times: Pip needs some distance and Johnny strikes gold

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Freddy complains about his GCSEs to Johnny. Freddy thinks the exams are just harder although he tells Johnny about his gaming at 1 am. Elizabeth ‘barged’ in and made him stop and go to sleep, even though Freddy argued that the gaming was essential to quell his exam ‘anxiety’. Lily bounces up and asks how things went. Johnny wishes Lily good luck in her biology exam but Freddy interrupts to say Lily never needs luck; she just soaks up information and then spews it out over the page. Lily replies that is not how revision works. They discuss the Isle of Wight Festival and the great acts on stage. Lily commiserates with Johnny over his breakup with Naomi but Freddy notes that Johnny doesn’t care. Freddy would jump at the extra ticket but he is stuck in ‘exam hell’.
  • Ruth and Pip change the oil on a tractor. Ruth mentions Jill has been signed up to count the bees in the country park. Josh strolls up but he has forgotten that he was supposed to have changed the oil. Ruth isn’t annoyed but Pip is determined to stir up an argument. Ruth asks them to stop bickering.
  • Johnny has volunteered to help Lily practise for the single wicket. Lily brings up Naomi again but Johnny tells her that he honestly isn’t interested. Johnny does confess that Amber is the one who catches his interest. Lily encourages him to ask her since she just walked in. She pushes Johnny to do it right now. Freddy comments that it is like watching the Titanic set off; he doesn’t have a chance. He accuses Lily of wanting the extra practice only so she can beat Anisha. Lily is unconcerned and points out this is how one gets ahead in life.
  • Ruth asks Josh to finish checking over the tractor so they can go to the lambs. Josh interprets this as taking Pip’s side. He brings up Open Farm Sunday again and sees this lost opportunity to advertise his business as all down to Pip. David wants to know what the commotion is about and he becomes inpatient when he hears the complaints from Josh about Open Farm Sunday. Ruth suggests they take another look at opening up. Pip stops the discussion by claiming it is all down to her returning to the farm. She proclaims dramatically that it won’t be for much longer.
  • Lily asks Freddy how he will tell Elizabeth he has failed again. Freddy protests it is only the first paper but Lily notes this is the one he thought he would do better in. Lily suggests using mime or contemporary dance to break the news. Johnny returns with great news. Amber has said yes! Freddy is incredulous: Did Johnny explain he’ll be using the other ticket, he wants to know.
  • Ruth and David discuss changing the decision about Open Farm Sunday. The issue seems to be Josh’s broken promises. Pip comes up and announces that she feels she is a nuisance at the farm. Elizabeth has offered a room to Pip; she is moving her things over after milking. Elizabeth won’t take rent but Pip will work off her room and board. She will still work at the farm and take care of Rickyard. Elizabeth mentioned that she doesn’t want Pip and Josh turning out like David and Kenton. Ouch. Ruth ends with asking David if they have really let things get that bad between Pip and Josh.
