Rob continues to exert control over Helen and Lilian receives the news she dreads most.
Radio Times: The villagers are dancing, but there is a horrible shock for Lilian.
Characters: Adam, Fallon, Harrison, Helen, Henry, Kenton, Lilian, Rob- Helen is feeling better and wants to go to the dance practice at The Bull. She tells Rob that the shop sales are down significantly. Rob resists Helen going back to work. He feels her health is more important and she has family duties. He will go and look over the figures. Leave it to me, he insists.
- Kenton asks if Harrison Burns has written a wee poem for Burns’ night Monday. Ha, ha. Fallon is going to offer 40s clothing at a discount for the dance-goers. Kenton wants to ask Lilian for a favour and he quietly asks Fallon to keep Lilian happy by finding her a dance partner.
- Rob takes the opportunity to needle Adam without being overt. After Adam hastily leaves, Rob reports that he has given the shop manager tips to increase sales; if Tina needs further advice, she is to call Rob, not Helen. Fallon offers up Harrison as Lilian’s dance partner.
- Rob’s dancing is not to Helen’s standard but he pleads a hard day. Lilian is enjoying Harrison’s company on the dance floor and she continues to make excuses for Matt’s absence. Kenton approaches Lilian during the break. Would she consider selling The Bull to Kenton and Jolene? Lilian pleads that she will need time to consider the offer. She won’t be pinned down and tells Kenton not to rush her.
- Rob strikes out at a surprised Helen over the DNA test and over his talk with Tina. She is conciliatory as always. Lilian receives a text from Matt and is elated; however, when she actually reads it, Lilian rushes out of the dance practice. Helen speaks to Adam about the New Year’s Eve snog with Charlie that she witnessed. Adam protests that he had had bad news about work and the simple kiss got out of hand. It meant nothing. Meanwhile, Harrison goes to check on Lilian. Matt is in Costa Rica and he has left her for good, sobs Lilian.
