Ruth is on a mission over the road scheme. Charlie is on an inspection visit at Home Farm. Brian claims to know nothing about the road scheme.

Radio Times: David and Ruth have some questions, and Brian has no answers.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • David finds Ruth laughing at the antics of the baby hedgehogs, but he points out that they must soon be released into the wild. Ruth asks if he has seen the Echo; there is to be a public meeting with the County Council about the new road scheme. Ruth thinks they should rally the village to attend. Since they have no idea where Brian stands on the scheme, Ruth will call to admire the new kitchen and have a word with Jennifer.
  • At Home Farm Brian keeps up his moans about the building work. The new floor is being laid and the team are working overtime. Jenny is delighted with its classic English farmhouse look, Umbrian stone being, apparently, part of the classic English look. Grumpy Brian finds jobs to do outside so that he can escape, but not until he has grumbled about the old kitchen being in the workshop.
  • Adam is relieved to see David. He has had little sleep, but is managing, and with David’s help they should finish drilling and rolling the maize this evening. David thinks Adam is more comfortable with Charlie now, and Adam admits that he feels he has Charlie’s measure, though Rob seems to have been given a hard time over the dairy.
  • Ruth makes a good attempt at being impressed by the classic English Umbrian tiles, and eventually asks Jenny if she has seen the Echo. Jenny prevaricates, and after Ruth has gone, tells Brian she found it hard to know what to say. Brian claims to know nothing at all about the scheme. BL tell him nothing these days.
  • As David and Adam take a break, Charlie appears from a darts match. He seems pleased with Adam’s efforts, and offers to buy him a drink tomorrow. It’s the least he can do.
