Ruth still struggles to find something useful to do.
Radio Times: Will fortune favour the Fairbrothers? At Brookfield it is good to be useful.
Characters: David, Jill, Pip, Rex, Ruth, Toby- Jill is back in the kitchen and finding that things have been changed round. Ruth thinks she will have a chat to the AI man but Pip reports that he has been and gone and is not really the talkative type anyway. So Ruth is thwarted. Jill notes that they have not properly celebrated Pip’s degree; let’s all go out together.
- The Fairbrothers’ slaughter room has been approved. Toby is still smarting over the share farming debacle – and about his lack of progress romantically with Pip. He suggests that they try to go in with Pip on share farming and goes straight away to ask her. She is not opposed in principle but needs to discuss it with Adam.
- Jill is reorganising – changing things back. Ruth doesn’t mind, does she? She decides to go and help David and Pip drenching the ewes, but finds that they have almost finished. Thwarted again. So Ruth is dispatched to make a cup of tea but Jill is already on the case with tea and a batch of home-made biscuits.
- Adam approves Toby’s plan, though Rex is worried about where the money is coming from. It is made clear that Pip is in charge. Toby never gives up in his attempts to get Pip out on a date; she will check her diary. The brothers are planning a touch rugby game “Feathers will fly” to promote the geese; Pip is up for it.
- Ruth has finally found something she can do but is not receptive to David’s compliments. Something is bothering her but David is not getting close to understanding what. They will celebrate Pip’s degree on Friday, though without Ben and Josh who have prior commitments.
