The cast of Calendar Girls exact their revenge on the prima donna in their midst.
Radio Times: Elizabeth has fond memories, and Lynda hopes for a kind critique.
Characters: Elizabeth, Harrison, Kirsty, Lilian, Lynda, Neil, Susan- It’s the morning after the opening night of Calendar Girls and Lilian can scarcely believe they have to do it all again. But what are they going to do about Jean Harvey, deliberately upstaging everyone. Kirsty has an idea.
- Neil and Robert are hard at work modifying the set because the dreaded Jean has complained that some of the audience can see too much. Roy finds Elizabeth in reflective mood; he assures her that Nigel would totally approve: he may have been Lord of the Manor but would take any excuse to go nuts. It’s 5 years since he died and there has been so much water under the bridge since then.
- Lynda passes on the rapturous response of Tristram Hawkshawe, including very complimentary comments about – you guessed it – Jean Harvey. Elizabeth feels it was indiscreet of Lynda to repeat that. What are they going to do about her? They must use brute force, manhandling her into the correct position. Lilian suggests hiding her knitting but Kirsty’s plan is more subtle.
- There is panic backstage: Kirsty’s rabbit costume has split and an embarrassed Neil is busy with safety pins. Now where is the knitting: Jessie (Jean Harvey) needs it to cover up but it isn’t where it should be. It is found and deftly taken on stage by Harrison, though it does seem rather diminished – partially unravelled. Lynda is mystified about this but the rest of the cast, being in the know, enjoy the moment. Jean herself has already gone home – just as well.
